R U OK? Day - Trust the Signs

R U OK? Day is Thursday 12 September and the theme of R U OK? Day in 2019 is 'Trust the Signs'.

We can all lend a helping hand by noticing when something is not quite the same with someone we know. If you feel like something has changed or there might be something going on in someone's life, trust your gut instinct and take the time to have a conversation with them. For tips on what to look out for and how to have a conversation, click here.

There will be activities on R U OK? Day in the Central Lecture Block Courtyard from 10am - 2pm. See below for all the details. You can also print off our event poster to display in your area.

Conversation Courtyard
CLB Courtyard 10am-2pm
R U OK? Day is all about starting a conversation that could change a life. Why not grab one of our free 2-for-1 coffees (see below) with a colleague and head to the Conversation Courtyard for a chat? We will have brochures and information available from R U OK?, beyondblue and Headspace.

Gratitude Tree
CLB Courtyard 10am-2pm
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how lucky we are. Practising gratitude allows us to appreciate the good things we already have in our lives. What are you grateful for? Write it on a postcard and hang it from our decorated gratitude tree.

Help is Available
CLB Courtyard 10am-2pm
A counsellor is available during the day’s events if anyone needs help. Please approach one of the staff members in the Courtyard and we will accompany you to receive assistance.

5-Minute Massages
CLB Courtyard 10am-2pm
Feeling stressed? Come for a FREE 5-minute massage from one of our three massage therapists and release the tension! One of our VERY popular activities from the last two years - back by popular demand!

Post-Secret

CLB Courtyard 10am-2pm

Visit the Arc Wellness Warriors to get something off your chest and pick up a booklet on how to help a friend. You're invited to anonymously contribute a secret. We hope to lift the weight off many shoulders.

Tai Chi

Library Lawn 12pm-1pm

Evidence shows that Tai Chi increases wellbeing and improves sleep, as well as providing a benefit for those suffering from depression.

On R U OK? Day, achieve tranquility and composure through integrating physical movements, breathing and peace of mind. Beginners welcome!

Book here.

Coffee Catch-ups

Caffe Brioso - from 10am until all gone!

Catch-up with a colleague over a FREE coffee to find out how they’re going. Caffe Brioso (the coffee cart on the Library Lawn) is generously supporting R U OK? Day for the fourth year in a row at UNSW! They are running a 2-for-1 offer on regular hot drinks, on receipt of a stamped ticket. To get your ticket, just grab the colleague you'd like to share a coffee with and visit our R U OK? team in the Central Lecture Block Courtyard, near the Gratitude Tree.
