There will be three weekly events held during October to celebrate Health and Wellbeing Month. They are listed here in order of date:

Tai Chi

In October we will once again host Angela Zhu for four sessions of Tai Chi. Angela is a Qi Gong and Tai Chi instructor accredited by Kung Fu Wushu NSW Inc.

There is significant evidence of the health benefits of Tai Chi, from more than 500 trials and 120 systematic reviews which have been published over the past 45 years. Tai Chi has been shown to improve balance and aerobic capacity, as well as increase wellbeing and improve sleep.

Don't miss the opportunity to try it out! Classes in October are offered free, at lunchtime, and are suitable for everyone. The classes are offered indoors in a different location each week across both upper and lower Kensington campus. No special clothing or mats are required and you will not get sweaty.

Mindfulness Meditation with Laura Kampel

Thursday 3, 10, 17, 24 October, 2pm - 3pm, Quad Building, Room 2008

Experience the benefits of mindfulness meditation and learn a valuable stress relief technique to improve your mental fitness. Laura Kampel from CAPS is back with her ever-popular mindfulness meditation sessions for Health and Wellbeing Month in October. 

This is a 4-week experiential program.

These classes lay the foundation to understand basic principles of mindfulness, develop a personal meditation practice, and apply the principles in your daily life on an ongoing basis.

In these mindfulness meditation classes, we will offer a theme each week, engage in a discussion and do a practice together. You will receive handouts and resources.

You can come to individual sessions, although it is recommended that you attend all sessions if possible to get the most out of the program.

UNSW's own Paul Dobing will lead four FREE sessions of yoga for staff during Health and Wellbeing Month!

All sessions start at 12.15pm and run for 45 minutes and all will be held on the Physics Lawn. The Physics Lawn can be found at map reference L13 on the campus map.
