Psychological Benefits of Our Relationships
Harvard University began a study in 1938 involving 700 men who were teenagers at the time. This study followed these men for their entire lives, monitoring various aspects of adult development. Sixty of them are still alive today (in their 90s) and continue to take part in the study.
The data gathered provides evidence of the efficacy of some of the things that we already attribute to wellbeing. Things like exercise and better eating habits. The more surprising observation according to Dr Rober Waldinger (a Harvard affiliated psychiatrist) is that, "Good, close relationships appear to buffer us from the problems of getting old." In other words, fostering healthy relationships coiuld help us live longer.
This webinar aims to explore the ideas from this study as well as factors that might make us likely to keep people close or at a distance.
This webinar will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday 23 February.
